For a while Sibylle Ito and I connected virtually on Twitter. In August we finally met, listening to speakers including @mqtodd "Excited to be speaking about Social Media at the Pink Cow Connections at @pinkcowshibuya in Tokyo this Tuesday night".  With virtual connection trust is real, though it may take longer to build. When you finally meet, "in real life" (as if by phone or twitter were somehow "unreal"), face recognition works and live energetic conversation boosts trust. So we co-created this interview. Enjoy.

Little did I know this would spark such lively comments when I posted Why CRM doesn't work - is VRM any better? Thanks to Doc Searls for correcting me: both are needed.

 

Cycling home from work one mild and mellow evening, I spotted a shuttered loading dock (like this one) and mused about how the sizes need to match and both the truck door and the loading gate must be opened, to get any business done. Peer to peer as far as floor level and cargo goes. Is there a good idea, maybe? How could this apply to personal data and privacy?

Why CRM doesn't work - is VRM any better?

Inspired by a round of twitter tennis between two customer-focused personalities, Graham Hill (at the time in Hong Kong) and  Doc Searls, about CRM and VRM, I sensed a certain hardening of viewpoints that may have existed for a while.  It seems I was not alone with that in the part of the twitter community that pays attention to such matters.
