Happened to skype with Venessa, a great listener who shares attention in a way that helps me to flashes of insight every now and then. Today was such a now. And we chatted text-only, from Mexico to Japan.
Here is what her expert listening evoked. I did not ask permission to publish her part, so here is only mine, edited for "mistypos" and links added.
Emotion chat
Wide swing is fine, shows large potential. You do not control energy (emotion)... Getting hit in the mind by a major cognition, Hold on...
Emotion is in part volitional, in part a resonance with environment and circumstance. So it might follow the concept of emergence of a complex adaptive system.
Just like groups perform better when guided but not controlled, emotion (in my quick just-now review) also seems to thrive when guided by open space rules. I need to test this for a few days, but [it] seems this has potential. Thank you for listening so well that this could materialize.
Today's summary: Emotion may be emergent by design. Gonna tweet this. Want your name with it?
Want the long version?
If #Emotion is part volitional, part resonance with environment and circumstance, then emotion is emergent by design. Thank you @VenessaMiemis
That was easy, because Venessa calls her blog emergent by design. I guess it truly is. She wrote Is Twitter A Complex Adaptive System? for the Polytopia project on spacecollective.org.
And one day I will learn how to wire a trackback from typepad to wordpress. ;-)
