Grateful and surprised about the range and depth of comments on How to sort out The Conversation - Thank you.

Flemming's comment and a TED Talk on lexicography I happened to watch today U-streamed on TEDxTokyo_yz were flowing together to co-create this fresh post.

In her fine TED Talk, Erin McKean redefines the dictionary. She says, "The internet is actually made up of words and enthusiasm", around 13 minutes in.

Linchpins Meetup 2010 Plan B: we met virtually

Brian Robertson wrote the Rule of Individual Action:

No matter how clearly we’ve defined the rules, policies, and processes, we will occasionally see a need for action which doesn’t fit within the defined system.  In most organizations we're tempted to hide such Individual Action for fear of blame, but doing so costs the organization a critical learning opportunity.

... the rule of Individual Action tells you to do exactly what people will do anyway:  Consider the information available, including the existing rules, and take whatever action you believe makes the most sense using the best judgment available to you.  However, when that action falls outside or against existing governance, the rule of Individual Action adds two further steps you must also be prepared to take:

How to sort out The Conversation

A lot of intelligent conversation happens in person and by video conference. What if we would not have to wait for a transcript or meeting minutes but could find our areas of interest on a video stream in a more direct way? Proposing a way to sort out a convo.

When Venessa proposed her Junto concept, these  ideas caught my attention:

 - Junto video sessions to be time-coded and tagged for easy search and later reference

- emotional/intuitive symbol language to express feelings around ideas and concepts
- data visualization, heat-mapping and sounds linked to information to quickly visually & auditorily “get” a piece of information

She received many helpful comments, and in this spirit I hope to offer a simple first step to get us closer to our shared vision. Venessa and her posse are  Organizing the Unorganized. Let's sort out.
